Skid Steer Tires

Running bald tires, bout as bald as they can be lol. We've run Galaxys Beefy Babys ll for about 1700hrs of jobsite and manure conditions. I'm just wondering what everyone else uses. I'm all for new Beefy Babys but, at 300 dollars a tire for 14x17.5 I'm wondering what else is on the market. Is there anything thats better than the beefy babys in mud and manure? Thanks, Barry.

Because we run over the tire metal tracks, we can only run certain tires that don't crown. Almost always buy from Bobcat and are usually as cheap as anyone. We did run a set of Galaxy 2000's and put 2300 hours on an older machine. Nathan

I use a retreaded tire from Bauer-Built. Usually last 2-3x as long as anything else I've had.

If you can get that kind of use out of those tires without a lot of trouble, count your blessings and buy another set... A cheap tire is usually just a CHEAP tire.
Only other thing you might do is cap these ones IF the casings are good enough to cap which is probably doubtful at this point.

My buddy put a set of tires(10.5x16) on his skid steer and in our research we found a wide spread in the tread depth reported. He decided on the cheapest with the deepest tread and ended up with some Chinese tires for about 135$. IIRC his tread depth was 24/32.

Went to Bobcat store and traded my slick foam-filled tires for recapped foam filled. All four of mine were recappable. I dropped mine off rims and all and left with different tires and rims. Almost $900 out the door. We used it a lot over the winter and they are holding up well.

Didn't really look at how he did it, but had a Mennonite acquaintance who bolted metal cross bars on his skid steer. Probably to get past their no rubber tire restrictions. Worked for him. Got around barnyard pretty good.
