Another toy

In mid November the neighbor three stops down the street asked "Does anyone want a leaf sucker ?. My ears went up as quick as a rocket and I said "MEEEEE". Walked over to his garage and here sits this big beast. He bought it three years ago and used it three times! He is in his early 70s and it was too much for him to handle. He was crying gater tears cause it costs almost $1500.oo and I am standing there waiting for the other shoe to fall. OK how much? His little tears were falling as he said $600.oo. I said sold! He had the cash two days later and I left it in his garage till today. "spring time". Had three year old gas in the tank but he had shut off the fuel valve and let the carb run dry. Couple hours of fooling around and a good wash job. All of the other parts for it are in the trailer. Another happy dance!

jeffcat,
They are handy, we bought ours from a guy who was going thru a divorce for $500.00. He hasn't used it much, but just a friendly warning about them, watch the engine on them. After three years of running ours, the engine had some trouble. First it would start and run for a while, then quit. Found the gas line (rubber) was weak and closing shut. Replaced it and it worked fine for a while, Next the float would stick closed, had to shake the engine while running or else it would die. Finally last year the engine quit all together, cylinder scorred badly. A couple of times the pushrod would fall out from the rocker arm and have to be reset. ( lash was correct). This year we bought a replacement engine to mount up on it. It was a Harbor freight engine, but should work as it's 1 1/2 hp bigger. Sometimes should beware of greeks bearing gifts, but when it works, it does save a lot of raking leaves. Any more it's easier to set and get rid of leaves than to walk and rake or blow them.

Glad you got your leaf sucker.

Had almost the same experience. Had been looking for one for some time and stopped in at a CNH dealer just for the heck of it. An older gentlemen had traded the Cub cadet version--same machine- the day before because it was to big for him. negotiated $600.00 price and love it. Briggs engine will start with half pull any condition.

I got a much better deal! my neighbor got one and picks up my leaves for me. :p I do stuff for them from time to time. he really needed one because with all his maples the leaves would be foot deep over most of his lawn.

A little P.S. note to add. This morning I greased the wheels. CHECK yours folks! Used almost 1/4 of a tube of grease between the two of them. NO grease at all in the wheels. Pump till your arm gets tired and grease squirts out of the ends!

Very nice and good find. I picked up mine over the winter, it's a life saver with aux vacuum hose. Mine is belt driven off the rear pto of the tractor though, slightly older type model.
