How much tractor will $32k buy??

That's what I have into these 6 Allis Chalmers 175 diesel workhorses. Can you even buy a new 63 pto hp tractor for that?

All depends on what your tractor has to do. I don't see 4wd on any of those tractors,a must for the loader
work I have. Not saying the 175 Allis still can't do a good days work pulling hay equipment or seeding etc.
But if you need a tractor to do winter chores moving big round bales through ice ,snow and mud, I would spend
my $32K on one new 4wd tractor. I bet that fleet works well for you,and I liked the pictures you put up the
other day doing some tillage work.Nice to be able to have a tractor for each job, and not have to hook up and
unhook for every job. Takes quite a bit to service six tractors each year EH ?

Playing the devils advocate, you could turn 2-3 of those 2wd into a 4wd machine. Also with 6 machines, one would think you'd be doing maintenance 1/6th of the time on 6 machines, give or take.

Still, nice collection of toys you have there!

Two years ago I bought a new MF 2635 FWA, 62 PTO HP, 4X2 Synchro-shuttle with MF DL 250 FEL and third function valve, dual remote valves, 4 rear weights, a full set of 6 front weights and optional extendable lift arms for $31.5K.

I think you are on to something. Having just one brand and one model of tractors can make one an expert on these tractors and know what to expect when something doesn't sound quite right and also where to get parts and service.

Nice group of AC tractors, the good thing is if one breaks you have another to put right in
that hooks up them same if the one new tractor breaks you don't have a tractor to use.I'd much rather have your group than one new one for the 32K.
I'm doing something similar with the 50 series Olivers for my 'big' tractors and the Fiat built tractors for lighter work.

Plus when you run several older tractors of the same model you can pick up a parts tractor many times and be your own parts source. When you buy new you have to go to the dealer for parts and all the problems on older models are well known so you know what to look for.

i kinda know how you feel and agree with you i have a few older fords and allways looking for more itd cheeper thay than buying newer and thay dont make them any more. and i have lots of experence on working on them.

You can buy a lot of tractor for $32,000

Personally I'd rather use a horse than to have orange on the farm again.

That being said I'd opt for a newer MFWA for that money. Something with IPTO and a nice cab. Good used Magnum comes to mind in the 150 hp range. Get a lot more done in a day. 65 HP won't run my baler.

There is a Dairy Farmer down the road from me, in Mi, that uses those in his operation. He will run one and beat it up until it quits. He puts it in the fence row and finds another one. They must be a decent work horse as he has about as many as you laying around.
I have a small loader tractor that I paid almost as much for as your fleet cost. Although I do like the 4 wheel drive, heater, air, and stereo it has.

Exactly.....adding up repair receipts for my taxes for last year I was shocked that I was under $500.

Like I said before, it takes a special person to run an Allis...not all are qualified.
