I got a call from a customer/friend the other day telling me another customer/friend, Eddie, had cancer. Eddie stopped by the house tonight for a few minutes and confirmed it. He said he had gone into the hospital for something and in testing they discovered he had stage 4 liver cancer. He said they had found spots else where on his lungs, etc, but had confirmed today that they were non-cancerous. Unfortunately he also said they told him he's not a good candidate for chemo because the cancer isn't a mass that they can actually target, but rather a bunch of small spots spread around. In there words they said there's not a lot they can do....
He's a great guy who would give the shirt off his back. Being in business, and having him for a customer for quite a few years, I'll put it this way. He's one of the few who's 'credit' is always been good with me. You know how sometimes you meet someone and can tell from the word to that they are 'good people'? Now days a man that's always as good as his word is getting rare to find, but that's just how Eddie is.
It's funny, as he started to tell me about his cancer I saw it was tearing him up, so I cut him off and told him I already knew. We talked on for a few minutes and he joked that since I already knew, he was surprised he didn't get a call asking to get paid before..... In a situation like this, money was the last thing on my mind when I heard, and he knew it, but it's good to see he still has his sense of humor.
If you guys would, please keep Eddie and his family in your prayers. He's a great guy, and it might sound cliché, but he doesn't deserve to have this happen to him.
