Dream Toy -a bit long

Have a small 20lb. sand blaster and never enough air. I have a couple of smaller compressor units in the basement but the air runs out in a couple of minutes. Stop and start. I used to rep Emglo compressors many years ago and always thought how nice a big unit would be. At the auction a month ago there was my baby! Four of us bid on it till I got it for $280.oo It is a D8HGA-8P and that is with a 8hp Honda and four piston pump! I have enough experience with these pumps to know how to listen to the valves as you slowly pull it over. It's a good one! Got her home and replaced the Pilot valve. Strip the gas tank and solder fill and power sand it flush. Painted with Cub cream paint and hooked her all up. Added the pipes and valves and regulator for all of my air needs and then reveded her up.....HHHOOOwwweeeee! This is a Godzilla of a pump. From 0 to 125 in 15 seconds with 8 gallons of air. I am doing a happy dance and now the sandblaster only stops for a refill. Today this compressor is list at $2,124.oo . Still need to repaint the belt guard. I know it is not a great big tractor but now I can sand blast one! Jeffcat

Cool, nice deal and you did a good job on that tank. Would be neat to have something like that. My little 135 pancake does a good job with air nailers but stops when it comes to an impact wrench.

MANY years ago I TEST ran this machine in the field for a possible sale on a site. He had FOUR Senco Stud framer guns. I think they were D-5 models? Things would shoot something almost the side of a railroad spike. It kept up with them! Sold two machines.
The gas tank on this machine had some big splotchy holes in the paint job and about eight dings and one really big DENT. After you strip the paint I use the same solder and flux as for copper water pipes. I used a big D550 Weller solder gun and just melt the solder in. Used a palm sander with the purple 3M fine grit paper. Lead is forever and bondo is not. MANY years ago as a kid I watched a REAL body man use lead and water soaked wooden paddles to fix a car. It was like watching a GOD at work. Smooth as a baby's butt. It is so neat when you can show people how to do lead work and they just stand with their jaws hanging ,Jeffcat

Good deal.

I know what you mean about watching somebody who knows what they're doing working lead on a body panel.

I'd be one big 3rd degree burn if I ever tried it.

Hey Jeff, I'm honestly not much of a tractor guy, but I spotted this thread and had hoped I could get some info. I just picked this Emglo D8HGA-30P up on CL for $100. A fair deal I'd say. But now I need to complete this compressor. I'd like to make this an electrically powered unit for use around my house/shop. It had an 8hp Honda, but I would like to know what they equipped it's electrically powered equivalent with from the factory. Since you said you reped for the Co. I'm hoping you might know. The guy that sold it to me said it's about 10 years old and was in service for about three years where he worked at National Grid before someone lifted the engine off it from out of the shop. His boss told him he could just take it and though he intended to do something with it, he never did and thus it's been sitting ever since. I gather you're a fan of the pump if nothing else, I thought it was a 2 stage until I saw it up close, I have to admit that I was a big disappointment. According to Jenny it can do 16.2 CFM @ 100 PSI and 15.6 CFM @ 125 PSI and that's not half bad, but that's with the Honda 8hp. Anything you got I'd appreciate. Thanks, Danny
