4020 hydraulics

The pump on the 4020 is getting weak and is very loud. I am religious about service including the hydraulic filter. I thought I remember someone here saying something about there being some kind of screen that could be cleaned in addition to reading the cartridge under the rearend. I'm hoping something else is restricted and I can buy a little time. It has a loader on it (for the last 20 years) but doesn't do any field work or any implement work.

Sump screen is located on LH side between hyd filter & rear axle housing. Remove plug and screen pulls straight out. How is FEL controlled SCV or ind valve? I'd also suggest to check stand-by pressure. I'd set SB pressure at 2350 psi.

Don't forget to drain the oil before you pull the screen. If the screen has little brass colored ribbons on it, it may be time for brake linings

The loader is off of one of the rear remotes pulled back so it is always live. They said it was the best way 20 years ago. Now it's habit. I know
that you can tie in on the right side below the platform. I keep meaning to do that. You know how that is.

No, but they have gotten worse at keeping pressure. When you have the clutch in for a long time eventually you will start to lose hydraulic
pressure. If I remember right there was a fix for this. Anyway, that amount of time has decreased in the last year or so. Being a loader tractor
and chore tractor, most of its work involves the loader, the clutch, and the steering. Kind of unhandy to have to put it in neutral and let the clutch
out for a second to give it time to catch up.

You should stop procrastinating and plumb loader valve to tractor without utilizing scv. Returning oil to rockshaft oil return line or ported hyd filter will help loader operation immensely.

I'm with Tim on this one. Free's up the SCV for use as well.

This picture is very helpful!! Is the line on the right the pressure line and the one on the left the return? I'm assuming that the fitting is available
from Deere (thus the part number).

IIRC that part number is incorrect for the tee. I think the correct number is AN140264. Maybe long green line man or someone else will straighten this out.
