Hello,

Here is a picture for you. To-day's pile. I think the stack in the fore ground, in the first picture, is properly stacked. The pieces on the ground are behind the green tarp. I'm guessing 2 cords of green wood,

I spent most of june and july last year working up wood. Nice to ahead of the game. Had big oak go down in park across street from our house. Filled out hold harmless sheet and city said have at it. Just dropped couple big trees Monday . I may be selling wood this year .

Hello Brian iniowa

The pile with the blue tarp is from 2012. I just started to split it. I needed a second have to get the trees down.To-day was the day. May be 2 cords of green wood out of 5 trees.

Guido.

guido,

Thanks for posting the pics, that should get me going on next years supply. I still have some left to start next year, just have to move it inside my new wood shed. Really can not wait to burn some dry wood for a change. With all the EAB killed trees there should be plenty to cut.

Hello,

I did have wood left from the front pile. Now there are two cords under the green tarp.
There are three cords of unsplit wood waiting under the blue tarp. I will be busy with the garden tractor and the trailer.I like to be finished before it gets too hot.The log splitter engine needs a carburetor float.
So far no luck finding one,

Guido.

These guys are about two miles away. This is their idea of a neat stack and they do lawncare and sell firewood This is almost ten feet tall. I guess this is about as close to "cute" as you can get.

Hello Dan in Ohio,

I'm glade to get you started. The piles are now three. The front is ready to burn.Behind that hat pile about two green cards from to-day's trees.

Hello jeffcat,

I got some wood pile pictures that will top that pile.I'm not at my computer now.I will find them and post them for you........later,

Guido.

I can't even think about next years firewood I'm busy mowing 3/4 acres and putting in a garden. Although I realize wood burning will be here sooner than I want I admire those being prepared

I have been cutting some myself. This fall I should have about 50 full cords ready to cut. They are going to cut the 40 acres of popular this summer here and I kept all the hardwood which they are going to cut into 104 inch bolts. They will haul it up by the house so I can cut it. I just sold 100 maple trees today which I will get the tops from also. They said that I have about 20 logs that are veneer grade. It looks like a new tractor is in my future

Having too much wood is like having too much hay, too many guns/tools or too much money. I suppose it could happen, but not to me!

Looks good, but how does your wood season under those tarps? Why not just cover the top of the pile and leave the sides open? Just a thought.

Hello JayinNY,

In one word? WELL! Those tarps are by no means 100% rain proof, or air tight. I do keep the wood off the ground with cinder blocks. Plenty of circulation. The green wood stays on the ground until I get it split. Then gets stacked above ground like the rest. Here is the green pile from the trees I cut down yesterday. They wood is a lot bigger then the picture shows, now that I'm look at it,
