Would not start yesterday at 5:00 am tried jumping with truck and charger no go. Didn't have chance to work on it till tonight, picked up starter while near parts store on way home, good thing the starter has large copper wire from solenoid to starter motor, it was fried just fell apart when I touched it, motor would not spin with fingers, screwdriver barely turn it. put on new starter, fired right up. Sure is tight in there with front differential right under it. I have changed diesel truck starters faster and easier.

Glad you found the problem and got back to let us know. Those Explorers are tight. Wait till you try to replace the engine in one. They are shoehorned in there.
