We have a versatile 500 in Minnesota and was wondering if anybody knows where to bring the transmission we already have it pulled out and we just need some where to bring that actually knows what there doing on these dinosaurs. Please email me if you have helpful information

Isn't that just the truck trans mission case transmission. If so most anybody that does truck transmissions should be able to do it. Or you should be able to give them the tag info on the case to get the correct rebuilt.
Try Erickson's,they are in MN.

No, CG, it's a nightmare multiple disc wet clutch setup INSIDE the transmission.

And the transmission is a custom Versatile-built ( I believe) unit that has about four shafts, one above the other, and serves as transmission AND drop-box.

NOTHING in common with a heavy truck transmission, at all.

Pete, did you try the guy I mentioned in reply to your first post?

Also, parts and service support for the legacy Versatiles went to New Holland.

You can go to their website and look up the parts breakdowns and part numbers to see what is still available. I would have included a direct link to the parts breakdown, but there are two, depending upon the year of the tractor.

Go to the link below and enter the model # of your tractor, then search, and pick the appropriate catalog for the year of yours.

Also ANY New Holland dealer that is willing to help should be able to access service information for that transmission though the corporate network.

These guys are in Roland, Iowa just off I35. They are the best at anything with a Hydro transmission. Not sure if They can work on yours but phone calls are free. (site says Des Moines but they are 50 miles north of Des Moines)

Pete,

you could also try ol Harry Herl in Collyer, Kansas, he has about every model versatile ever made. (785) 769-5266.

the tractor is a 1979 versatile 500 and we are starting to think its a type of pressure plate in front of the traini and behind the motor its not a clutch though as far as i understand the clutch is built in the traini where the pedal linkage goes. But this "pressure plate" came out in peaces literally just a bunch of springs and little peaces of medal and we got a new one at a new Holland dealer but for those who no what I'm talking about could this stop a the tractor from engaging in moving? and we are getting the train looked at by a case dealer ship in north field but we do not want to spend a fortune on this rig

Yes, of course of the flexible dive plate on the flywheel is tore up to the point the driveshaft going back to the input shaft of the wet clutch in the front of the tranny the tractor ain't gonna move.

Did you ever observe as to whether the driveshaft was turning, or not, before your tore it down?
