firestone tires

I've been looking for new tires for my 1955 ford 950. Anyone have anything good to say about firestone super all traction 2? There a pretty good price. Looking at 14.9x 28

If they are anything like the Firestone field and road tires, I have nothing but good to say about them. The wear good and last many years before any signs of checking develop.

Junk junk junk junk! Either super all traction bias radial all traction! Theyes wear off quick the bars are narrow and shorter if you run alot of road they will last less than a year!

Agreed.

Recent Firestone tires have very narrow cleats, no doubt to save material costs.

The result, of course, is very rapid wear.

Google in ME Miller Tire, and then select your tire size and if nothing more compare the weight of the various brands of tires and tread design and depth. They have a broad selection, and their prices are less (includeing freight) than I can buy comperable tires here locally.
Do your home work (apples to apples) before making a decision.

I bought a new 14.9x28 10 ply BKT tire for my 1550 Oliver last year for $385 for the tire and USA made tube. I don't think the Firestone will be any ware close to that price. No sense spending more than you have to. Bandit

The Firestone all traction II tires ( top picture) have much thinner bars and fewer of them then the regular All traction 23 degree ( bottom picture)ones.

If your just collecting and not running on the road much they will be fine but if your going to be road driving the tractor much then you should look at a higher priced tire.

As others have said if you run them on the road much they'll wear quicker but thin bar tires with a little farther spacing will out pull thick bars with close spacing in the field in most situations especially on sod land.

Years ago I bought a Ford tractor to restore. Needed tires and size was 13.9x28 as I recall, Firestones. Guy had a Goodyear dealership and had a trailer out back with tires from when he was a Firestone dealer. Tires must have been in that trailer for 10 years out in the sun and closed up tight.

Ran them for years and did their job. Developed slight weather cracking early which I expected due to the age, but it didn't go beyond that.

I like the BKTs too, alot people swear by them. That's whats going on my Oliver this spring. May not be Firestones but way better than Chung Kings.
