First calf of 2015

Talked to my nephew in ND last night; the first calf arrived yesterday - it was 7 degrees below zero at 7:30 last night. Calf is doing fine. He has about 20 that should all calve in the next few days, the rest will come later. He has 120 cows to calve so he'll be short on sleep for awhile.

I don't envy him. I only have one left to go. I hate drawing them out this far but last year just didn't fall together. Now I am gearing up for pigglets.

It is all in the timing of the breeding. Want spring calves breed them in about late July.

congrats to you ,, them little fellers can makeit in that cold ,, but don't see how .. got mine synchronized to start coming in about march 20th ,,. the mommas sure look like they are pakin a good crop,, so far so good ,, gonna be zero tonite @Louisville area
