weather rant

Northern Ky. thirty miles east of Cincinnati. The last two weeks we have plenty of snow and below zero temps. Monday and Tuesday it warmed up and rained about two inches. So much snow was piled up along the bridges and some roads that they flooded. The news Tuesday night showed a pumper truck on a bridge over the Ohio River at Cincinnati pumping water into the river. Last night we had another foot of snow and I got to plow the driveway again. The old M has started well all winter..Ellis

The wife talked to her sister in Lexington this morning. She said they'd had 36 inches in the past month. It was still coming down the way I gathered it from the conversation.
The sun was shining here with the kind of weather you guys should be having this time of year. You guys can go ahead and keep it. The cold is enough,I don't need the snow.

we are supposed to hit 50 degrees next week in n cent illinois. we had quite a bit of snow so far and i have to use the skidloader as i have no where left to push it.i hope we get a slow warming spring so all this snow doesnt flood everything. couple years ago we got real hot in march, all the fruit trees bloomed, then a cold snap hit . no fruit, and lot of corn went in early that got either froze out or drowned out. grand dad usedto blame the bad weather on the russians. he said they had a weather machine and they could send us bad weather. maybe he wasnt so far off!!!

Just wait till next week. You will be up to your knees etc. in mud. Here in Missouri they are calling for temps in the 50s and 60s

You guys have really caught it this year. We're the opposite snow-wise. We probably haven't had more than 15"-20" all winter. The most we've had at one time is five or six inches. A few days of these 40+ degree days they are talking about next week and we won't have any left except for the ditches.

I know what you mean! I am TIRED OF SNOW! Just back in about 4.15pm from pushing snow today. You would think with all the cold weather we've had the ground would still be froze, But NO! All the rain we got early this week with the warm temps we had make pure muck under the snow. How do I know this? Cause I buried the skid steer this morning doing the neighbors place, Now I have a mess to clean up come spring! All the road ditches are full of snow and all the rain this week didn't go any ware its still there under and in the snow and there calling for warm weather next week so now we watch the creeks and rivers for flooding. Got to love weather in Cincinnati If you don't like it wait 5 mins cause it will change! I am really glad we got rain the other day and not snow, We would have been up to our ears in the stuff by now! This last storm flat out just ran up the Ohio river valley and those south of the river got hammered hard with snow. Got to love it. Bandit

We got 8" of new snow yesterday and last night here in NEAR. That was after 2" of rain. Now we have a foot of mud under the snow. I can't complain too much because we needed the moisture. From the 4th of July until February we only had 1 rain over 1".

Common mistake even up here in snow country (with no snow this winter). We call it stacking, that's where you push or pile snow. When you are going to get a bunch you better have lots of room or a plan.

Good luck!

Ellis I just looked a NWS and according to them we have had sense Jan 1 6.43 inches of rain and 24.15 inches of snow and 80% of the snow has been in the last 3 weeks. This was taken at the NWS at CVG airport, And you how at times to the north or south got more of both. This year it seams Kentucky is getting more snow than ever and just north of us they haven't had much at all. Bandit

Weather guy bout a week ago said we have 166.7 inches of snow this year. We've had a bit since that, too. That's a bit higher than normal, but not a record by any means. I think the record for this area is just over 200 inches.

Sorry to hear about all of the snow problems that others are having. Here in the St. Lawrence river valley we have not had any major snow storms. We just get 4 to 6 inches at a time and now have about 18 inches on the meadows. Some of this snow came early in January and is still here because it has only thawed one day the whole winter.

- 16F here this morning, we have the dogsled races here this week end, dogs love this weather, was out all morning helping get set up, And will spend the next two day among a bunch of dogs.
