Sand Blaster

I have done a fair amount of sand blasting on different projects, using both a cabinet and a pot. I killed my air compressor awhile ago, so I am making a major upgrade there, so I plan to get a sand blaster too. I am planning to get pressurized as opposed to siphon. Not looking for any help on sizing, but I do need help on what to get for a nozzle size, and type of nozzle material. What I have used before was ceramic, and seemed to work OK with the AL oxide that I plan to use. I also am wondering what to look for in a hood/helmet. I have experienced the importance of being able to see, and think that perhaps supplied air may be a good idea. I know that it will help a lot but not sure if it is worth it. I see that everybody sells compressors and sand blaster pots but not so much real nozzles and hoods. So who is a good source?

I have a blast cabinet that I bought from TP tools, Wauseon
Ohio, in use now for about 15 years. I use glass beads almost
exclusively, daily use. Finally tried one of their carbide nozzles,
it's been in the gun for so long I can't remember how many
years since I changed from ceramic. I do remember the ceramic
ones were good for a couple of months tops.
Carbide nozzle p/n 6300-90.

check out GRANITE CITY as was mentioned carbide is the better way to go but I think they have a boron nozzle in there catalog that costs more

I have had problems seeing because of fogging ever
since I started blasting using the cheap-o hood
supplied, I even rigged up an air supply hose for
fresh air from a small squirrel cage fan. Then one
day I put on my painting respirator under the hood
and it was like the cure to all the problems of
fogging, it is the only way I go now, hope it works
for others.

Same as Bob Collins accept I use the disposable supplied air hoods from where I retired from. Very light weight , big windshield and hose to hook to fan. They are cheap enough that when windshield gets too bad to see, I just toss it and get another. They have "tear-offs for them but they cost darn near as much as another hood and really distort clear vision.

I finally got the right equipment to make sandblasting as enjoyable as possible.
My blaster is a BadBoy Blaster #300. I has a real hose and nozzle.

I run the two smaller nozzles on it with my 5 HP two stage IR compressor. The bigger nozzles would work if you have a bigger compressor.

I have a Breathecool supplied air system with the sandblasting hood. No fogging up, no sand in the ears or nose, it is great.

So about $1000 in equipment plus the air compressor. Other than being handy, it is still far better to just hire it done.
