I am tearing down, completely, this f12 someone donated to me for a FFA tractor restoration contest. I will be having a lot of questions. I have the manuals, but they don't show everything.

I am having trouble with removing the transmission /pto cover. There are two threaded studs up through the cover with two 10 " metal strips, one on both sides, holding this cover on. there are no bolts on them. Cover should pull off but it wont and I don't want to tear anything up because parts are hard to find. I have a picture I can email. Please help! I will have many more questions as I go. I just need some guidance.Thank you, Drake Davis

I applaud your efforts, and I don't want to come off like a jerk, but you need to go to the IH forum of this website. Those guys know F series tractors like the back of their hand and more than willing to help.

The threaded studs are alignment pins and are pressed into the transmission case. They are threaded so you can remove them. Clean the threads well, use a die if you have one. Place a couple flat washers over the stud and lubricate it. Put a nut on there and tighten it down. As you tighten the nut it will pull the pin up out of the case. They can be seized in there pretty good so patience and penetrating oil are required.

F30 is correct...Cover should lift off once the studs are 'pulled'.I would be happy to assist. Send email. Steve
