Just got back online. Had a confuser geek install the classic shell on the stinkin' 8.1 program. seems to be a bit less tempermental, so far.

At any rate was reading the post about a new goat below. One of my granddaughters goats had a single billy 10 days ago. The little bugger is already trying to mount the cats. The cats ain't real happy.......... Jeff, me and the grandkids are rolling on the floor laughing until our sides hurt.....................

Or maybe a fur Koat! About 30 years ago, a neighbor lady who was always adopting oddball animals ended up with a pair of baby female goats that she didn't know anything about or want to mess with, so somehow we ended up with them at our farm. This was at the beginning of the summer, and we immediately named them Mary and Martha, weaned them on the milk replacer we used for the calves and they got to be regular pets. They'd follow you everwhere, loved to ride the loads of hay home from the field, easily climbing unassisted to the top, and would eat my grandmother's geraniums, leaves, flowers and all, down to bare stubs. We thought they were poisonous and were worried about their health the first time they did it, but it never bothered them and they'd eat them in preference to anything else. End of the summer, the original owner took them back, and we never saw them again, but they were definitely fun to have around while it lasted.

Little bucks are funny. They think they all that and a bag of chips. Here's my take on banding. I wait till they are at least eight weeks old. Talking to my vet the urethra grows for several months before getting to full size. When we band it stunts the urethra causing it to not get any larger increasing the possibility of Urinary calculi (blockage of the urinary tract due to stones) later in life. If they are going to be a pet wether and you wait it makes the chances smaller. If they are going to be meat goats then it doesn't matter because they will probably go to butcher before the problem starts. Also, if you are feeding grass hay do not feed grain. It knocks the calcium to phosphorous ratios off. If you want to grain then feed alfalfa only to keep the balance. So, I band at eight weeks in case somebody wants a pet. Nice bucks get to keep the package and are marketed differently then meat goats.

Yes, and it was always doing about 6 different things with the same commands. All of a sudden it decided to wander off into the computer twilight zone and nothing I did could get the thing to work at all. Fortunately for the computer, no Tractor trailers were driving by at the moment........................

Do yourself a favor and look up your local confuser guru and have him install the "classic shell" and have him make up system recovery CD discs. The system seems to be much more usable and work more like windows 7 while still being able to use the touch screen, too. It will cost a few bucks, but it seems to be worth it.

Yup, they are without a doubt the most comical, entertaining critters on the farm. And yes, they WILL eat anything they can get in their mouth!
