Trucking farm produce

Tried to haul a bit of by product over to the other farm for spring spreading. Things did not go so well. -9f temps ment the manure kept freezing to the truck bed, and had to be shovled off after each load. And steady wind was drifting snow acrossed the half mile lane at the other place, full truck goes good, empty truck.... Well let's just say I quit before I had to walk home. Maybe tomorrow will be a bit milder day, and things will go better. As you can see in the one picture, there are still a few loads left in the yard, and more coming every day.

Bruce, winter sure is fun! Back in the 80's we bought a Flexi tandem axle dump cart because of deep snow we had to dump in a pile. This winter seems a lot like back then, were the heck is that global warming! Got rescued by a little Kubota yesterday! Found out the meaning of "No good deed goes unpunished". You can just see loader arms of the little Kubota over hood of truck. Greg

I have had to use that saying several times. It was that or beat some people unconscious. What is the rest of the story?

Take a hand pump up sprayer & give the bed a light coat of diesel, or used engine oil, should slide out fine then.

Well Cas I was almost home after plowing parking lots since 2:30 in the morning and saw neighbor lady hsd not snow blown her drive way yet. Well with out asking I started plowing and got up were it' s steep and snow was blown in pretty deep and got stuck. Neighbor kid hooked his truck on and my plow pulled me in deeper. Then she came out bitching. Next time I will drive on by. That was my Oliver but needed chains. Greg

First pic looks like your useing the snow blower to load the produce! HEHE Winter sure makes everyday chores alot like "work" with the low temps this past week.

Bless their hearts, there's nothing worse that a grain truck empty. They are like a hog on ice. You've got a heck of a wheelbase on that one, too. It almost looks long enough to be a school bus frame.

Bruce Do you add something to the fuel on the KUBOTA. We use a product like power serve. Of course does not get real cold here in the south.
However we have had some nights around 0 F really different for these parts. Usually nights 25/35F for this time of the year.

How far north are you Bruce. I have 160 acre in Cochrane, Ontario. Talked to friends up there Sat they said -40 and three feet of snow. Hope to get the Team out next week and haul manure in central Illinois it's cold here too but the snow is all turned to ice kinda hard on the horses working on ice.

When I had my triaxle it would go almost anywhere with a load, not so good empty. I put a vibrator under the body to help get the ice out in the winter. It worked great for sand and gravel but not for loam, so I am sure it wouldn't help with manure. I know that diesel works, and I am pretty sure that salt will too if you spread about twenty lbs. over the floor. A layer of ice would not work because the manure will melt it and it will then re freeze.
