Check out FleetFilter dot com. Napa gold filters at half the price.

Baldwin is owened by Clarcor companies and Clarcor also owens Purolator along with some other companies.I have used them before but dealer in this area closed his doors.I use to also buy Hasting filter but no dealer for them any more. Both filter were well made and did the job and if I remember right they where not a cheap filter.

I just ordered $180 worth of filters from them. One of the filters was still $30 from them but the rest I don't think any went over $7-8. Easily 1/2 price of what the dealers charge here.

Baldwin is definitely a quality filter made here in USA. unlike
a lot of Wix filters.
I used a lot of CARQUEST(wix) and Wix filters until they started
out sourcing manufacture over seas for there older filter numbers.
Mainly the old "Sock" type I use in the power wagon.
The dimensions were off somewhat and no longer fit .
Baldwin's filter fits like it should.

I had an interview for an engineering position at Baldwin, while there and walking through the factory and test labs I saw a lot of OEM filters as well as red Baldwin branded filters. I believe a good portion of their business is manufacturing for OEM market. I think they make a quality product and wouldn't hesitate to use them. Fuel filters on a Diesel engine I wouldn't use anything other than an OEM replacement from the dealer though.

I have used them for years. Cheaper and better than most others.Gave up on Wix. After driving 200 miles. Only to find the filters wouldn't fit.

I recently took a metal chop was, cut the end off a kawasaki and steins filter. I was surprised to find how cheaply made the kawasaki filter was. Looking at reviews alone, I may have came up with the opposite opinion.

DR you will ;like doing business with Hy Capacity. You will find easier to sell a NEW clutch disk/pressure plate than the re built by the time you return the core. Good products at a fair price.

If I'm not mistaken, CAT filters are now being made by Baldwin, and I know for a fact most NAPA filters are made by WIX. That said, as mentioned in another post, a friend of mine had business at one of the filter factories years ago. He said the filters coming down the line there were in a variety of colors, and had a variety of names on them. In other words don't believe all the hype when it comes to the "OEM" filters -vs- the aftermarket, because 90% of the time the aftermarket is making the filters for the OEM.

I have found Baldwin filters to be as good as any and I have used several different brands over the years. In fact I don't recall any bad filters. The only one I could complain on was a GM ACDelco oil filter for the 4.3 V6. Threads seemed to be damaged and I could not install it.

Take your comp. and type in history of Balbwin filters and there is a site that gives you history of who owens them.

I think your right because if you go to both of their sites they are identical (color of filters are the same on both sites).

Baldwin filter are also built all over the world (even China). Go into the history of the Baldwin company its all there.

In my opinion Baldwin is every bit as good as Wix. I don't think I'd hold either of them up as a comparison to FleetGuard tho.. I don't believe the case or the media is quite as sturdy as FleetGuard. In terms of cost I find FG is just as cheap if not cheaper sometimes as well.

Some NAPA Gold filters now say "Assembled in the USA" instead of "Made in the USA". I'd bet that their Wix counterparts say the same.

I'd also bet Baldwin and others are in the same boat, perhaps heading across a large body of water?

Couple friends toured the factory over in Kearney. Baldwin or Hastings can't remember which it is. They work a few days at a station then rotate around the plant so they don't get burnt out with the same job for weeks and weeks on end.
