The nerve of some people

Was looking around on the web and came across some wiring diagrams I drew to help others on the Ford forum of this sight.
Not a real problem as I see them often on other tractors sites.
My intension when I spent hours drawing them was to help others so once again not a real problem even though it would be nice of others if they did not try to pass them off as their work.

Then today I saw them on a site where a guy that goes by the name of Rudolph Diesel, ASE ,Master Heavy Truck Technician stating he has 25 years of heavy equipment experience is charging about $30 to give you a answer and is using the diagrams I drew in his answers.

That is low life enough to make me enforce my copy write on him.

Well,

Rest in the fact that when you see someone say that are a Certified ASE Mechanic, what they really mean is that they wish they were a mechanic.

You can phone in the answers to those tests. VERY BASIC entry-level.

It seems like when you search anything mechanical on the web YT comes up. That's great business marketing, but it also encourages the issues you state. The only way to have anything be "yours" is to keep it at home or copywrite as you mentioned. The web is a mysterious place where folks can remain a mystery.

Allen, I know a few certified mechanics that don't impress me one bit. I think it is something like the certification for air cond, open book test and a few dollars fee. I have one of those. As far as that just ask site, I stay clear of it. I tried to get a couple answers some years ago and the first thing they wanted was dollars. Then I decided that with all the information I have given out, (good and bad) over the years that I was not about to pay any more than I charge. I get that same feeling every time I hear the word, consultant come up.

Welcome to the club!

I've seen diagrams I've drawn posted far and wide, as far as on a Ford Mustang club's website out of Australia.

Now we know why the Hollywood folks get so upset of the theft of "intellectual property"!

Of course, they make a little more $$$$ from their "creative work" than we do!

I hear you,, I posted pics here and other places of my "DC" and Duncan loader, a month or so back a guy on my CASE fb page shared a pic that had my photo, heck it even had my cousin in the basket of the "DC", a guy on the site he had shared it from had the nerve to say he had run it a lot and it was his bosses tractor! I posted on that site to him and asked him when he started working for me! he tried some excuses saying I did not know what I was talking about so I posted a couple more shots of it and asked if he had taken these pics as well,,,, he ended up deleting his comments to me LOL I really Love it when they argue with me about my own pic taken in my yard lol the pic above is the tractor I was talking about

This should prepare you for the real life corporate world. I've had coworkers steal my engineering ideas and pass them off to management as their own. Management did nothing about it. It's cutthroat. Last time I told anyone about anything I was doing. Live and learn.

I really don't think there's anything much you can do about it now. What I have seen others do to prevent someone from claiming it as their own is before you post it print your name on it at some place where it can't be removed without deleting some of the diagram (diagonal across it for instance). that way everyone that reads it will know who designed it. Just my thoughts, Keith

Hi
If you know what your doing with stuff don't start posting comments on youtube! 2 channels I follow have guys that tell those of us that farm/Fix machinery, for a living we have no clue.
They are supposedly dealer mechanics. Biggest laugh although sad. Is the 56 year old guy with 38 years experience that just randomly swears at some guys and argues with everything. Then Calls us that do know, " armchair Mechanics" .

i guess some guys are so sad and have no place in a real life. they do this to look big hiding behind a key board where there is no consequence for what they say to other guys !.

That is called a watermark and it is quite effective.

Well, unfortunately, as soon as you posted it on the "world wide web" in the public domain, it becomes public property. Anyone can do what ever they want to with it. Now if you had copyrighted it and provided it with "permission only" that would be different story. As others suggested, If it matters to you that you are recognized as the "creator" of the diagram", then you should watermark then as others have suggested.
