Tractor related tool

For a while now we are looking for a mill/lathe combo. We seen a few on CL for around $800.00 -1,000.00. It's something for making gears that broke that were originally made of plastic. It will be used sporadically and really don't need a big expensive model so thats why the cost ceiling. Some parts we could make for our tractor or crawler when they couldn't be replaced. It would give me something to do on cold winter months. I've welded up some parts on the tractor and used the drill press and file to bring the parts within working tolerances. It would be easier with one machine instead of two. How many of you have one small one, not large one, for your own use? Thanks for any helpful input.

I have seen these combos at Harbor fright. I doubt they will be very productive making parts. If I were you I would watch for a lathe by it's self. I found good South Bend lathe at a auction for around 350.00 It needed a good cleaning, but has served me well. I have a import mill and drill combo that also serves as a mill. I use the lathe more than the mill, and could get along without the mill drill combo. Stan

With so many shops closing down cuz production went across the pond, machine tools are very cheap. Lathes under $1000, milling machines the same- I bought a Milwaukee horizontal for $235 on auction, vertical attachment for $65, lots of tooling for $65. This is all quality production equipment.
