Over the 5-6 years I've participated on YT I had the opportunity to talk with a number of you guys on the phone.Folks from all over the US.What a great experience.Such a great group of people!Always fascinateing to learn of different areas and other stuff. And to be able to talk someome through a 'problem' is also very rewarding. We do get rather long winded..My wife gives me that'look' when the conversation drags on....and on...Thats OK!Just kind of shows we are all 'brothers' with common beliefs and interests A few of you have even stopped by to visit .That was really cool! Thanks! Steve

well heck, lets plan a yt roundup out in yer neck of the woods!!! gotta find a dive joint that we can get tossed out of!!! the greasy spoon we met at earlier this month had a mat inside the door, so you could wipe yer feet BEFORE ya went outside!!!

I am glad that it has worked out. I am reluctant to be that involved due to a job I had years ago. Privacy got to be a real issue and there were a few people that I got to know a little too much about. Maybe I will work up my nerve to go the next step here at some point. I have a general idea as to where a few board members live in my area. I thought I had met Bob Bancroft at an auction a few years ago until I found out it was a different Bob Bancroft altogether. I think our Bob said it might be some distant relative.

Holy cow! When I saw my name, I thought I was in trouble. But maybe it was another me!

My family has been farming in southern Cayuga county for almost 200 years. Most of that time based on the same road. In the cemetery up the road rest the remains of 5 previous generations. There are other Bancrofts in the area, but no connection we know of.

This auction was in Middlesex, NY in the western Finger Lakes a few years ago. When I got to see the other "Bob" I could tell it was not you as this gentleman was easily 15 to 20 years older than you described yourself. I remember posting about this and I thought you had said that these Bancrofts could possibly be distant relatives. If I got something incorrect then I apologize. Of course there are many family names that are around that are not ultra-common but yet are not related to others of the same last name.

No need to apologize. I suppose "related" all depends on how far back one wants to go.

It would be rare to meet me at an auction as I am not much of an auction fan. I've bought a few items that way. But I usually just go, look around, and leave! I've got some surplus items to sell, and I think they would be right for an auction. But the thoughts of pieces of them walking off discourages me.

Yes!! lets have a Western colorado get together. Salida,Gunnison,Montrose......However,you 'lowlanders' may want bring some oxygen for 8000 ft Gunnison. LOL

A few Winters ago, Someone from Maine suggested getting together here in the North-East. 'I don't remember why but it never happened. Perhaps we should try again.

I wonder if I might be second only to jon f in the number of people I've actually met in person from here. Add to that the one's I've talked to on the phone. I've never met or talked to anyone here that I didn't like. Sure changes your perspective when you can put a real person to the name. These aren't automated responses on this site. As I travel the country,I hope to meet a lot more. We might have some differences of opinions on this site, but at the core,we're the same kind of people.

Hey Delta I wrote your number down last fall when you invited people to drop by knowing I would be in CO in October for our youngest's wedding, but didn't take it with me and never did try to look you up, maybe next time. Our oldest and family live in GJ. By the way I have no problem with the elevation even when we visit our second in Breckenridge or hike in the San Juans, well maybe a little short of breath cross country skiing on the Grand Mesa or hiking above 12K. We are in NY but the three boys live in CO. Great country!

give me a shout when you get it set up.

Yep, as you can tell we have been thru there. Been to Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Hiked around Ouray, Hiked in Dominquez Canyon, Hiked/skied on the Grand Mesa. Picture of the Grand Mesa from son's back deck.
