Lower Lift Arm Mystery

Greetings to all. I have a 1976 County 1164 that I am currently restoring. She needs work, but basically 100% completely intact. The lower lift arms have Ford's version of a quick hitch. Where as, you lift a lever, which is connected by a small cable, which lifts a cog. Once the cog is lifted, the lower ball end is able to extend out. What I'm looking for, is the cable/cog replacement. Obviously there were other model Fords with this style release. Not to be confused with the style that uses a 'ring' connected to a pin. Anyone that knows the other models that use this style would be a great help. Thanks, Greg.

Hi I got arms from a wrecker for my county 954 i think they came from a 5200 or 5600 it was about 10 years ago now, so not sure exactly. Sounds like the same cable part you need was messed up. if you call ford and it's still available sit down when you get the price. I needed the cable and the lift up handle to pull it, and the little lead crimp bit to hold the cable to the handle. it was over $100 for 3 small parts then. I never restored it, and said when i do I'd make the parts for less. if you got patterns from the other arm some of it's not that hard to do with a bit of thinking. I made the cable part back then with a piece of cable from a car brake system with one end crimped on already to fit the lock. i figured how to make the crimp for the other end, now just need to make the handle at some point and Finnish it. or just sell the tractor as i don't have time or money to restore it properly now L.O.L.
Just checked now on CNH online parts it was a 5600 for my style arms. Go check that book online and it's in the hyd section under rear linkage heading.
Regards Robert

Thank you both for the help. I figured someone out there would know. I actually made one of the lift levers. From the sounds of things(price), I'm thinking I should make my own cable assemblies. I thought maybe they were a cheap/available part. Apparently not. Greg

I have the crimp on sleeves that you need along with the crimper. They are used in fencing and any farm supply carries them.

Hi
If you can get the part numbers off the website Call and ask NH local Dealer. I had one instance where MF dropped some prices on older parts with the 10 + scheme . You never know NH might have done the same, with some stuff on older tractors parts programs.
like I said my inquiry was 10 years ago. A phone call and 10 mins might be worth a long shot. saying no's free, if you don't like the prices.

Robert I am pretty sure that Fiat has been doing pretty much the opposite. On the twenty year birthday parts prices increase by 50% every year after that add 10%.

Hi I think they are all at that now. They
triple or more the price and hope they sell one
to cover the cost of the 60 they dump in the
scrap when the stuff becomes NLA at the stroke
of a key on a keyboard.
The green guys wanted $700 for a bracket on an
1830. Parts guy said they have 30 in stock in
the main ware house. I said well fancy that, at
that price I can see why!.I Asked him was that
painted , he said nope that was another $20.
His last comment was did I need to ask the
customer to ok the Price, before he ordered it.
I just looked at him and said I am authorized
to tell you to get lost on the customers
behalf.
I made the bracket and at 6 ft you couldn't
tell mine and the original on the other side.
Cost the guy $90 with time and materials!
Regards Robert
