I think you've got me on who else was Howard one. I seem to remember him being on there earlier,but I don't remember who he was. Let somebody else try to guess.

Alan Melvin played several different characters too. Probably too numerous to mention. He was a farmer who was going to beat up on Barney,then a store keeper who was going to beat him up,one of the guys in the car theft gang when the old lady stuck Barney with a stolen lemon,and the list goes on.

I remember that episode,but I don't remember her name. I wasn't a huge fan after Barney left,so I have to wrack my brain to remember anything from the later shows.

There was one later episode with kind of a personal connection though. In the one where Howard quit his job and moved to a tropical island,the shop keeper on the island was played by Harry Dean Stanton. Harry Dean was a cousin to my wife's brother in law Gary. His parents died when he was a kid and Gary's parents took him in,so they were raised more like brothers.

You guys are good and quicker than me. Down south a ways in indiana there's a Mayberry diner. Ever in the area check it out they have it all and I have a cap from there given to me from a good friends widow. He was an Andy Griffith expert. We spent many an hour years ago watching re runs. Laughed every time Andy telling Howard after a snag in the tree that he'll find most of the fish are in the water
