Dave H (MI) pole barn pic

Here's a little better pic of my barn. Shows what it's like with the door closed. Sorry for weeds, haven't has any animals on the place in some time and everything is growing up.

Be sure you do get around to painting it. I had a pole barn built this fall. Contractor made sure I painted people door even before it was installed. Used an oil based paint, took forever for it to dry in the cool weather. Contractor says he's had to replace a number of doors due to lack of proper maintenance. Especially thè door frame. By painting mine before installation, I was able to get all sides, and edges.

That's a good looking building, Casey! Don't see a lot of them with darker trim. I think it looks good. By coincidence, the barn contractor just left. Been here for the last two hours hashing out the details. Trusses are ordered. Poles are ordered. Once he has that going he orders in the steel. Kind of exciting. I normally do my own building but don't have the time right now. Not familiar with pole building construction either. I'll let him put up this big one and then maybe I will do some smaller stuff later.

He is in eastern Kantuck where is yo ain't careful you might fall out of your field.
Sum of them thar hills are so high you have to look twice to see the top

That's one good looking building . We are going to build one this summer - 3 sided with all the front open - this way it's called an implement shed and will not increase the property tax - will probably hang a tarp for the winter months .

I wasn't real familiar with pole barn construction either, and like you, and I didn't have the time. I hired some local Mennonites build mine. It was an easy build, 2 of them worked for 2 days, 3 worked the third day, and 4 worked about half a day on the 4th day and it was finished.

It was an easy build, but those guys made it look really easy and was super quick, well worth the money. Good luck with yours. This was the first pole barn on the farm and so far has been some of the best money I've ever spent.

I'm in Johnson County, Paintsville is the county seat. I'm about 45 minutes south of Ashland or 45 minutes north of Pikeville. Hill country sure makes things interesting sometimes...

Great looking shed Casey.

What are the dimentions? Any concrete on the floor or foundation? What was the approximate cost?

Thanks, Grant

It's a 30Wx40Lx12H. It's got 15ft split sliding doors on both ends and then the one walk thru door. No floor or foundation yet. 6x6 post were set in concrete. I was lucky enough to get in on some tobacco cost share money thru the state and it paid for almost half of the building, but it ha to be use for commodity storage(hay) for either 5 or 7 years(I have to check the paperwork to be for sure). After that, I can do whatever I want with it and I plan on pouring a concrete floor and turning it into a shop. Total cost on the building was just about $10500 about 2 years ago and that including a little dozer work. Cost share money paid for $5000 of it. I'm happy as can be with it.
