Hauled a green, came home with an Orange

804 miles yesterday...hauled a JD 820 to Seattle area and picked up an Allis 190 diesel that I sniped off Ebay at 11:30 Sat night. Turned out to be a good tractor...heavy little pig to haul home though....and the fog didn't help!

(quoted from post at 19:18:35 01/26/15) Good deal! I drove about 400 last monday and thought that was plenty. Good looking old tractor.

After having owned a 190XT series III I have to ask why? One of my better days when I saw that orange POS leave! If there is ever Orange on this farm again while I'm still alive it will be Kubota!

Takes a good operator to run one....

LOL, no I hated the "power director" setup. Sorry excuse to me for a tractor that size from that era not having IPTO too. I wanted one from the first time I saw one. Wanting one was way better than owning one. Where I really learned to hate it was blowing snow. Had to keep the blower turning until it cleared to prevent plugging. So I found myself (1) PS to N while trying to (2) lift the blower, (3) turn the spout, (4) steer and (5) shift from R to forward (6) PS to high/low. Trying to do 6 functions at one time was just a pain. Much happier with it's replacement that has IPTO. Still doing a lot of functions but now 1 is done by my left foot eliminating the PS steps. I don't know if I'm right but I came to think that AC didn't offer true live PTO because they were trying to sell tractors cheap.

That's a bunch of miles even in a car on a sunny day. The 190 has more wind resistance. Makes a big difference in the pocketbook when you're going that far.

Hauling the green one paid for the fuel...and I hate to run empty coming back!

10,000 lbs, 2 windows and a door missing and a loader bucket catching the wind....and a steep mountain pass. Glad I have a diesel!

Hmmmm... I could probably haul them over for you... :)

I really like being able to take something one way, and then bring something back.

Actually made some cash doing that this spring. Hauled a 5 bottom plow 3 hours away, and then picked an Oliver up on the way home. Both the pick up and drop off were within 20 min of my place, and they both paid well... Great way to make some money on a boring day! :)

WHOA that looks like a pretty good load. Did it make your truck wag it's tail? What a heck of a high lift on that bucket!!

I probably should have put the duals on the tongue and moved the tractor up a bit...the rear trailer tires were squatted pretty good, but then my truck was squatted too. I checked after 20 miles and the hubs and tires were cool so I headed for the freeway. Pulled fine, have never had a squirrely load with the PJ's with the long tongue and the Dodge dually. Left at 7 am, home by midnight...with a little jawing at both stops :D Could have done without all the fog, tho!

(quoted from post at 08:09:12 01/27/15) You could have hauled that green east and brought it my way!!

Yeah I wish I could have....but it wasn't mine. The guy got a steal on it, a nice straight 820 w/new 23.x -26 tires on the back. I new the seller, but he didn't even advertise it, just sold it word of mouth and waaay too cheap! I think it weighed in at close to 10k also....
