C Allis Chalmers

We have restored a 1941 C Allis Chalmers. After several hrs. on a dyno to break in we had a small water leak. Fixed the leak by a tighter turn on a clamp. All the time on dyno the tractor did flow water from the over flow tube. After fixing the water leak engine wants to discharge water through the over flow even when tractor is running idle. Didn't replace water pump, new radiator, first used a thermostat but removed due to the above problem. Water temp guage doesn't reflect unusual temperature readings. Any ideas would appreciate.

Head gasket. The engine compression is passing in to a water port in the block and building pressure that causes it to blow out the overflow.

Maybe too much coolant. On my Fords if you fill them over the fins it will run out until it gets to the right level, it being up to operating temp of course.

Cooling systems tend to reach their own operating levels. If the gauge says you aren't overheating and it isn't boiling in the radiator you should be okay. Heated coolant will of course expand.
