Going to Ireland

Planning a trip to Ireland in the fall and was wondering if I need an adapter for different ac voltage over there?

yep, will need adaptor and possibly a transformer,
voltage is 220/240 volts, sockets are the same as
the UK, 3 pin and 13 amp per plug max... things
like computers/phones etc might be cheaper to buy
a cord there rather than take a converter,
alternatively you could buy the cords you need
from www.amazon.co.uk and have them shipped to you
home before you leave (shipping will take at least
7 days)

Most better hotels have converters in the rooms but I always
take one with me. If you plan to drive when there whatever you
do get your GPS up dated with Europe road map Chip and do
not leave home with out it. My wife and I have been there
twice in the past two years and loved every minute of it. Tell us
more of where you plan on going and doing. Tom

Yes you need an adapter. If I recall there where two types to use. My daughter burned out her hair drier because she used the wrong adapter. Was there two summers ago for my daughters wedding. We spent two weeks there and had a great time. Nice people and beautiful country. If you have the time Northern Ireland is also nice. Belfast is a nice city and the titanic museum is a must see.

What you need are:-

Water proof clothes & rubber boots & hat

And when you land you have to set your watch back by 50 years

Thanks for all the extra information. We're actually going with a group so some of the problems shouldn't be so bad.
