Planning the NFMS trip for 2015

I am getting ready to start planning the trip to the national farm machinery show.

I am thinking that for this year, my dad can't walk the show anymore, but he doesn't have a handicap sticker and can't have a scooter. I am thinking that I and a buddy can leave on Tuesday afternoon and drive to Florence(y'all) KY and stay there overnight, to drive from there, to the show in the morning. It seems to be an hour and a half away. I am thinking that once I am down there, I can pick up my mother and father from the Louisville airport and drive them to the show for at least one day. We can have more time to walk around, if we don't have to worry about him having to ride back in a car.

I can then return to the show and get to see some tractor pull action, and see more of the show. I am thinking of flying my dad down on Thursday, so I have a day to scope out what he would want to see, so we can go straight there. Hopefully, he can fly straight back that same day.

So how is the Hotel situation in Florence(y'all) Ky on the week of the show? I will have to check with the flight schedule from Pittsburgh to Louisville, but I think it should be ok. I just don't know how else to handle this.

Last year, I had to turn back halfway to KY for a funeral for a heroine overdose. Just last week, I am still upset over 2 23 year old girls who both killed themselves within 2 days of each other. Neither funeral ended up at my cemetery, but, in the same time, 2 other funerals happened. I can get someone to fill in for me and my dad, if I start planning now. Let's hope that it works this time. Last year was a bad thing... Drove home in a major ice and snow storm and the 5 hour drive took 13 hours.

I just want to have one more year with my dad at this show. I'd like to plan now, but I am not sure if I can get a good hotel in time, and be close enough.

Anyone attend the show? Where do you stay? How do you plan for your time there?

I am ready as can be; but I only live 1 hour 45 minute - 2 hour drive to the North. I am not sure what day I will attend; probably take off work Wednesday. & I am very sorry about Your loss. Lost a sister at the age of 34 year, & half ago. Grade A alcoholic She was. Cant imagine the hotel situation can be good. I do know not to try to eat at a decent steakhouse such as "Texas Roadhouse" after the show because the wait will astonish You! Anyway, never stayed at a hotel.

Its been years since I went the first time; but I can tell You that the main attractions (JD, Case-IH, NH, Agco, Kubota etc.) are always in the Eastern buildings, mainly the south A, B, C wings. there is maybe 100, or so individual small vendors in the B section, & what is called homegoods (Paintings, toys, hobbies) at the western side wall of the A, or B section of that building. THATS A CANT MISS BUILDING FOR ME! I will bet that Kubota will unveil their new 170hp tractor Wednesday; but cant say for sure. Its due out soon, & although I wont buy one... I sure would like to see it.

If I was going to do the motel thing(and I have),I would google motels in Louisville and check availability for the date(s) you need. You can widen the search and look at varying distances from the NFMS. I am planning on going, but it takes me 2-1/2 hours to drive.Mark

There is a large number of hotels in Florence, Ky. The prices range from 44 to over 100 a night.
The main airport for Cincinnati is in that area so they have to have lots of rooms for air travelers. How Johnson, Travel Lodge and Motel 6 have rooms under $50. Roof Roof Inn has rooms for $55. I think they are far enough away from Louisville that they will have rooms available. There are a bunch more hotel rooms than that for more bucks. And these prices could certainly raise the closer we get to the NFMS dates. I have not stayed in any of these except red roof in another city and it was quite satisfactory. Good luck.

You might check Lagrange, Ky there are a couple of
motels there and that is about 40 miles from the
show.

I called the Galt House Hotel in Louisville last night. They had
rooms available for Wednesday night Feb 11. They are
located about 2 blocks from the convention show according to
the receptionist. She said rooms were limited.

(quoted from post at 11:24:04 01/17/15) Told you, took less than 2 days!

I guess this is in reference to another post I made? No where did I say I was leaving on my on recognizances. I said that voicing my opinion would lead to my banning from this forum, since I was harsh and spoke my mind. I do it quite a bit and expect that someday it would lead to me being banned.

I hate to say it, but, I speak my mind sometimes, which is very obtuse. That is what makes me feel that I am in violation of the rules to a point I would be banned. One day, it might happen. I am sorry. I just need to stick up for what I believe in.

can we have a YT meeting somewhere? I'd like to meet a lot of you guys and since we will all be there, I think it is a good idea. I'd love to put a face with a name!

I'm sure you would love to see me also, so let's try to get together. Thanks for the advice!

Those prices sound like not during the show. Almost everything I price that week, are $100+ for out 50 miles or so.
