Best tractor tires...

I have an oliver super 77 that I would love to pull in a few tractor pulls over the summer... Only problem is that the tires that it currently has are almost bald... Can someone give me some advice as to what kind of tire would be good for pulling and should I fill them with fluid or not? I'm only 17 so I don't have a ton of money to spend on cut tires or anything like that... I also use the tractor for field work. I just would like to find a good cheap tire that would pull well?

Thanks,
Jake

I do not know what you mean by "almost bald". A worn tire will pull better than a new one on a pulling track. just the opposite of being in a field. As long as there is a little lug sticking up on the front edge of the lug; you may already have a dandy set of uncut pullers!!!! There is no one-size-fits-all suggestion. A lot is trial and error to find out what works best for your application. Depends on where you are pulling; rules; track condition, etc.... GOOD LUCK

Best stock pulling tires are the ones that are worn down from running on the road and the vary best is and old set of Firestone DEEP treads with road ware .

k.. That makes a lot of sense... But is it ok that the ones that are on there filled with calcium. Should I drain that out?

I think it better to drain the tires so you can move that weight around to balance your tractor and so you can get in the lighter classes which will be better for your tractor. Chuck

I agree with the rest. Take it like it is, first.
Pay attention to who wins. Try to buy tires like
theirs. Fluid in your tires is a bad thing. Won't
have the same footprint as just air. Vic

Use to know a farmer who knew a puller. The puller had same size tires on the puller as the farmer on his field tractor. The farmer would trade worn tires for new. The puller would have his good wear pulling tires and the farmer always ran around with new tires.

That old hard bald tire I think pulls from the carcass just as good, get some road ware on them . ive beet a lot of tractors with better tires then mine, give it a try,
