Need info on 335 445 MM Tractor

I am about to rebuild the engine on a 335 we purchased this week and I am looking for parts and what not for the rebuild. The real question I have is what's the difference between the 335 and 445 engine? I am not finding many different parts when looking to order, the pistons crank valves and gaskets all seem to be the same. Is it in the head, intake and exhaust? Even the jet star we had used many of the same parts as these. Are they the same bottom end? Can I make my 335 pump out as much as the 445? Any ideas on this would be great cause if I can just put a bigger rocker arm and punch this engine out with over sized rings and some head porting, decking, block deck and I can get an extra 10 HP I would be stoked.

If I remember correctly the 445 is a 206 cid engine, 3 5/8" X 5" stroke where as the 335 is a 185 cid engine with 3 5/8" X 4 1/2" stroke. You can find some new parts on ebay and might be worth a try to post this on the MM forum as well.

Thanks so when I open it up bore wise I will pick up some cubes and with I little magic on the head I could get close to same HP. Or get a crank and rods out of a 445 if I need to replace them.

You might be able to locate another engine from either a 445 Jet Star or 4 Star that will work for more HP and then sell your 335 motor. I believe they would mount up but not sure.

335 is 3-5/8x4 B&S - 165 CuIn. 445 is 3-5/8x5 B&S - 206 CuIn. Same blocks, pistons, rings, gaskets & valve train on both. Rods & crank are different but 445 Crank & rods together will fit in 335. 445 engine will fit in 335. 335 heads have smaller combustion chambers & will result in higher compression ratio on 445 engine. Blocks can safely be bored .125 (to 3-3/4). Call Wendell @ 740-922-3335. He has gaskets & .060 over pistons. Not sure about .125 over.

335 is 165 ci and 445 is 206 ci. Any of the overhead valve 206
parts will work I would change it to big crank or buy a 206
engine and put the 335 heads on it for more compression, they
should be #5856 I think they used them on the 335 to get the hp
up a little bit.
