I have a hydraulic oil leak where the 3-point hitch arms attach to the tractor on each side. After the tractor has been used and is shut off, quite a bit of oil leaks out of these ports. Does anyone know what would cause this? Also, does any one know an estimate of what it would cost to repair this problem at a John Deere dealership. Thank you.

Load control shaft seals....dunno what dealer fix cost would be. Many do it themselves, there are a few tricks to it..especially to make re-assembly easier..plenty of comments here.

Sounds like draft seals[LOAD DRAFT] SHAFT SEALS ,seal replacement is easy bushing replace ment a bit harder,35 to 100 for parts if you don't need a new shaft that will be another 100.Where are you located

Don't why a trip to the dealer would be required. Took me almost 20 minutes from the time I opened the tool box until the job was finished and tools were put away.

To correctly check L/D shaft & bushings for wear one needs to drain hyd oil. Trans holds about 8 gallons of oil. Lower 3 pt arms & place L/D control lever under seat in "minimum" before removing shaft. When re-installing 3 pt arms install shim washers to remove any side to side play out of shaft.

I had to replace a seal on a JD-2840 out in the field several years ago. As everyone has said, it was easy and something you can do yourself.
