Tractor tires

So with the price of oil 1/2 of what it was a year ago, the price of tractor tires should drop out of the ionesphere. 19.5L x 24 10 ply are still 500 to 750 each. Depending which Chinese brand you chose. I suppose a time delay of a year or so is in place. What do you think??

I imagine that the tire manufacturers are waiting to see where all of this goes. If oil prices do stay down, eventually the price of tires will follow. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

I'm still waiting for diesel and heating oil to come down. I'm not holding my breath. Somebody will invent a crisis. It won't last.

What do I think? Tire price dropping is going to be the least of your worries. I'm afraid the oil price dropping is going to drag the whole economy down with it. Lots of possible scenarios but what ever happens I'm pretty sure I won't like it.

Think you're right about the time delay. All the raw materials in stock were bought at high prices, will take a while to deplete them. And how long will these low oil prices be around?

Tequila,
I hope you're right. But I am thinking its not going to happen. I need a set of 17.5L-24s. Same prices you are seeing.

I think the crude oil prices are only temporary. I wish they would stay low. I think they will come back up before anything commodity has to lower its price. Tires, fertilizer, diesel, home heating oil, etc.

BUT... I sure wouldn't mind paying $300 each for a new set of tires.

We're just under 3 bucks for over-the-road in SW Washington, surprised to see it so much less in Oregon. And so much higher in Michigan, for that matter.

I don't expect you'll see any price depreciation in tires unless it's directly effected by exchange rates or severe over supply... and I don't think there's a big over supply. We've seen some price slide here in Canada due to fluctuating exchange tho.
As far as the price of oil... I doubt that will stay down too long. The arabs will have another uprising somewhere to cure that sooner than later.

Tire prices, as well as prices for other products made from crude oil, will eventually come down to reflect the reduced prices of raw paterials but there will be a delay much longer than that for motor fuel as the work in process works its way through the pipeline.

Caveat: Watch the federales. The current administration does not favor low oil/fuel prices and was blindsided by the private sector (fracking) in this case. Expect Barry to work to increase fuel taxes/prices once he returns from Hawaii. Do not expect approval of the Keystone pipeline.

TransCanada needs to complete the Keystone XL pipeline. My concern with it is the Ogallala aquifer.

Im betting that by the time tires "would" come down the price of oil will be back up by then so there will be no reason to sell cheaper tires. (Insert lol here ;)

Cornflakes did not vary much in price after corn dropped one third to one half in market price in last year or so. Would be surprised if tires come down in price. Oil should stay steady in price until the change to summer formula gas starts, which may be sometime in February, depending on how severe winter is. Summer formula more expensive to make.

One local dealer, (SW Utah) is wholesaling, 10% over cost. Several brands 400 to 500 range, you have to mount them. Another local dealer had tires $505.00 ea. another brand $540. 00. All Chinese brands. Firestone and Goodyear were around $800.00 ea , they are made in China also.

Why would low oil prices drag economy down. The economy went south when the price of fuel shot up in the first place 10 years ago. Fuel has been slowly dropping here for most of a year now and your president is claiming his policys are what has made the economy start growing!?! B.S. Sit back and watch, as soon as fuel starts back up things will start slowing down again.

The economy was growing before gas prices dropped.

The better question might be what does rubber trees have to do with tires?
Synthetic rubber made from oil is the main component in tires today...
