Ecclesiastes: Chapter 3, verses 1 to 8 and 12 to 13

1. To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3. A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to breakdown, and a time to build up;
4. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5. A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6. A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7. A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silent, and a time to speak;
8. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace...

12. I know that there is no good in them, but for man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.


I have found these to be very true in my life time.

Sittin' here remembering 50 years married to the same wonderful woman, our anniversary today. Those words from our Lord were never truer.
 
Isn't it amazing what the Creator knows about His creation!

Too bad more people don't take time to read the instruction manual!
 
Traditional Farmer:

These truths hold true regardless if your an openenly religious person or not. I have strong feeling about God but I DO NOT preach about it to others. There are too many people that feel they are required to push their religious beliefs on all those around them. I feel this is where many churches fail. This personal dogma clouds the real message they should be bringing to others.

All of the churches on this earth are created by MAN. Therefore they all are fraught with MAN'S failings and sins. Some more so than others but they ALL have faults.

A big example of this is the Catholic church cover up of the pedophiles that some priests where. The actions of the church where against Gods teaching and hurtful to the weakest members of the church, the children.

I feel a person going to church every Sunday does not prove or show anything about how truly a person feels Gods will/love.
 
Wish I could get son to do #6; the "cast away" part! He insists on keeping everything. He has boxes and boxes of old magazines that the will never read in his lifetime!

When he needs a tool, he can't find the ones that he has so he goes and buys another one. He now has 3 slide hammers - that he doesn't have time to use.
 
Thank you, J D. Your thoughts are a perfect match to my thoughts. I was brought up in a church , but have lost interest now. [sixty yrs. latter.] Seems it is all about the money and " show " now. Most important,It is how a person conducts there life and treats others. clint

1-8 are printed out in white on a blue background and hangs on the wall of our shop... been there for years.

Thought I might have a pic of it... but need to take one I guess.
