I have a Yanmar YM2000 Diesel - LOVE IT!! but I
can't figure out if it has a glow plug or not -
it has the "glow plug" position on the switch!
It runs AWESOME!!
Also, how would I find out how old it is - the
number on the side says ym2000-04811
Here is a video :
Thanks - Gary

For what it's worth I would have like to have seen a picture of the whole tractor in the video somewhere. Not intending to be mean just wanted to see what it looked like.

Sorry for the audio .. my daughter was wanting a tractor to promote "Mended Little Hearts" (a congenital heart defect in babies) ... here is a full pic of the tractor ..

Wild fenders and platform--though I can see where they could be helpful too. Looks quite similar to a JD 750. Have you looked at www.tractordata.com for info? Tractordata.com has the 226 and 2000's listed. I notice the hood says YM2000 on it but you said 226D. According to tractordata.com the 226d is 4X4 with the tractor in the video is not. The 226 is 4X2. You might match up years produced and specs like 2 or 3 cylinder engine between the Yanmar and JDs listed to find which are likely twins. My understanding is they are great tractors with the only problem being JD isn't going to help you find parts for them your own your own to find the JD part numbers that match.

My fathers 850 has a compression release and a, for lack of a better term, glow plug in the intake manifold that burns drops of diesel dripped in it to preheat it.

The info on the Yanmar forums, and there are several good ones, is that determining the year is difficult. But, you can get
the years that model was produced.
The "D" after the model, e.g., YM2000 designates 4 wheel drive.
No glow plugs. It has or had a system of a bowl of diesel that would drip past a hot wire, when in the glow plug position of the ignition key, resulting in a small fire in the intake manifold thus providing heat to start the engine.
