Lawyer and a tractor

Lawyers are pretty smart. You have to have pretty a good LSAT score plus at least a bachelors degree just to get in to law school.
So I'm guessing many of them would own at least one Ford. Cause we know smart people drive Fords.

Ultradog, where does that put me at? Half smart? Because I am a firm believer in Ford trucks. I wouldn't own another brand of truck. I've had a bunch of mustangs also, but I have never liked a Ford tractor. When it comes to tractors I'm all about Massey Ferguson with a Perkins diesel.

Oh yea Lawyers , Doctors and Vet's and wimmen with horses and TRACTORS . there should be a law AGAINST such combo's I use to have the whole gambit for customers . You have really never lived till ya have to deal with them on fixing there tractors or selling them one or selling them some implement . a couple case in points here . One time one of the Vet's brought his 2520 Deere down ( yea i know i am not really and expert on Deere's ) He was having a problem with the lights . Well after tracking down the problem and fixing it he came down to settle up and made a statement to the fact WELL HOW LONG DO YOU WARRANTY YOUR WORK , Told him 90 days on labor as for the Parts you Brought me from Mother Deere that is between you and the Deere Dealer . I then Asked him about his WARRANTY ON HIS WORK . HE said that HE could not warranty his work as to LIFE AND DEATH . I told him that he had better as because as soon as we are done here i have to take the backhoe over to this farm WHERE YOU just worked on that one Holstein and it is NOW layen stiff legged on it side with it's tongue hanging out one side of it's mouth and we are going to have SERVICES for it here directly . The Farmer IS NOT HAPPY after putting more money into that cow then i charged you to bring your DEAD DEERE back to LIFE . Well he paid me and went flyen out of the shop and went over to the farm with the dead cow and wanted to do and ontopsy (sp) on said DEAD COW AND CHARGE the farmer another grand to do so to see why the cow died . This is the same Vet that came to me to buy a set of 4 bottom 16 inch plows that HAD to be super nice and they had to be Oliver's with all good bottoms ready for the field and did not care about HOW MUCH . Well i found him that set of plows in a 3 -4 bottom set in MINT cond. i had to hook them up to his 2520 as he did not know HOW TO and he was off . Two hours after he left he was back telling me that there was something wrong with the plows as they would not PLOW wright and the ft. of the tractor would not stay on the ground . I had to come with him and see what was wrong with the plows . So i go up to his farm and he wants me to try and plow with then . I told him that for me to see what is wrong he was the one that needed to be on the tractor while i watched . As soon as he dropped the plow into the ground it plain as day It was him he had the three point as down as far as it would go and the ft. two bottoms were in above the cover boards and the back was down to where the depth stop was . I stopped him and i got on the tractor and made a couple passes setting the depth stop on the three point dropped the back down a little and was able to come up two whole gears . When i got off the tractor he looks at me and says ARE YOU SURE THAT IS WRIGHT , Your ONLY going down about 9-10 inches . I was skimming the top of the clay at that depth.

I've been selling tractor parts for quite a few years and have met collectors from all walks of life and professions. Yes, including lawyers. I made the comment onetime when I was delivering some parts out of state I was not worried about the DOT, I had parts for two lawyers and a cop. True story. And my Dentist has an Allis Chalmers. He asks me about my tractors every time I see him.

Great answer, UD.

I own 5 vintage Forda a Kubota and two late model MFs.

Both MFs were a mistake and will be replaced by Kubotas.

I know a lawyer who is a farmer. Do you want his phone number so you can call him and ask him?

Ditto on the Perkins engines but MF QC and customer support has gone to h*ll in a hand basket.

I have a 2007 MF 533 (Perkins) with 450 hours and a 2012 MF 2635 (Simpson: Perkins design but built under liscense in India) with 80 hours. No engine problems with either but QC problems with both tractors, which have not been properly addressed by AGCO and have cost me money.

I also have a 1994 Kubota that has had absolutely no isseus of any kind in the 20+ years that I have owned it. Nothing. Not so much as a fuse, lamp bulb or fan belt. Nothing aside from regular lube oil and filter changes.,

Both MFs are on the list to be replaced with Kubotas within the next several months.

Dean.

I've been a lawyer and farmer at the same time and have owned more tractors then I could count or remember. Among some brands I recall are John Deere and IHC and Oliver and Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson and AC plus several others. Not sure what that proves lol I've seen bad and good in about all over the years.

Your post cracked me up. Could never figure that out. In a previous life (almost) I used to be a certified mechanic and worked in a big shop. We would work on some poor blue collar's car and they would be scraping pennies to pay the bill without ever a complaint and be thankful. The doctors and lawyers would always give us a bad time and try to knock the price down (once saw my boss freak out on one of them over that). The absolute worst, however, were the airline pilots. And out of them the worst by far were the PanAm pilots. Seemed they would go out of their way to belittle, berate and just plain abuse my help. Then there was the day (for those of you who think there is no justice in life) that PanAm folded and those unemployed pilots would come in with their tails between their legs. It was PAY BACK TIME!!! And you can bet I did.

Just a coincidence that John T and I are both lawyers, and were both tractor jockeys at one time. I've probably owned 70 or so at one time or another- favorites have always been Olivers (have 2 now). My "usin'" tractors now are a compact utility JD 4010 (no, not THAT 4010), and a Kubota MX5000. Also have an MF 135 and Moline 4 Star Super to fix up and sell, a Cockshutt (Black Hawk) 35 to fix up and keep, and a JD 710 that I bought some years back that turned out to have fairly severe transmission problems, and will probably go to scrap after I pass on.

Won't comment on the lack of "love" many of you seem to have for my profession, other than to say there are good lawyers and bad ones, and its up to you to choose wisely. In 30 years of practice, I could count on one hand the number of dissatisfied clients I have had. Just sayin'.

I had to LOL at this reply!

I've flown with a few cheapskates, so I know they're out there. When you go to the left seat it's a requirement that you acquire some sort of quirk.

What's the difference between a pilot and a canoe? The canoe will tip!

y dad used to say,...Iawyers!,..Hang them aII!,....just hang the good ones apart :D

I have to say that in the case of PanAm I did not witness the cheap part but saw plenty of the downright mean and abusive part. What bothered me most was that there was no call for it, to or from anyone. Some of the stories were downright funny however.

Tanks to all that had a reply. Ozarker had the answer I wuz luking fur.
The lawyer gets off his tractor and sezs, "I rest my Case!"

That happens to some people when they move to the left seat. They get delusions of grandure. They forget that it's nice to be important but more important to be nice, especially when you're in charge of a crew.

Do you feel better about yourself now? I don't know anyone bigot or lawyer who ever complained about a job well done.
