We have a "huge" family and get together on Christmas eve every year,, "Never" an argument ever..we all get along great 3 Brothers 5 sisters and a "bunch" of nieces and nephews..

Ours too, but I know some where that's not the case. I have 5 kids, 2 step kids, and their husbands, wives and boyfriend/girlfriends, and the 11 grandkids now and we all have a great time at get togethers.

Surroundings like that make for a happier environment..we all look forward to get togethers ,, and we all live with in 10 miles of each other too, help is always just around the bend..

That's funny, can't get my wife's family together for more than an hour before fur is flying! It generally starts with the one BIL with 2 sons with interesting police records, telling one of his siblings how messed up their kids are because they don't attend Sunday School at his church. You know, the ones with kids who have never been in trouble with the law. Can be kinda amusing to watch but somehow it ruins the family gatherings for everyone else. Sometimes I think we should keep gloves on hand. Heck I'd ref!

I have a couple BIL's that voted for external_link,, they know enough to keep their mouth shut...

That used to be the situation in our family when I was a kid. One year I told my Mom that I would not go to another Christmas gathering and listen to the arguments.

She got with a couple other aunts and they used the excuse that the family was getting too big for all to gather in one house, so they split the family gatherings into 2 groups.

One group was the peaceful ones and the other were all the trouble makers. I thought that was much better, at least for me.
