"The probability of a given event occurring is inversely proportional to it's desirability."

In other words, the apron chain on the turd hearse is gonna break (under load) LONG before you win the lottery!

How true! That's why I'm installing a new one to start with

Mine didn't break. I thought I had it broken loose from being froze down, but it sheared a pin and broke 3 cogs off the sprocket that the apron itself drives from. It's always something.

Have any more pictures of that spreader? Looks like an ac 140-241?

Yours looks like it is in really nice shape.

That looks great! Judging by the paint on the wheels, I would say it never sat outside under a barn cleaner it's whole life. Looks just like or spreader, except yours doesn't look like it ever was rusty.

This some of the before, The drive shaft had to be remanufactured, the sprockets were 1/2 tooth out of line. Old shaft had to be cut up so the sprockets and gear could be pressed off. replaced floor and sides, new chain, the old one was junk, slop door was supposed to be rebuilt, but was relined, beaters had to be rebuilt, guy gave me a plate of 1/4 inch plate and I took it to a guy with a water jet and he cut them out for me. $14 apiece in them. right now it has a 10:00/20 tire on one side and a 8:25/20 on the other side. Didn't paint it, just changed the color

They are only good till the first time you don't break them loose before loading.
I run the spreader so the slats are not in the location they were froze down in. It seems to help with that.
