Odd size U-Joint

Having trouble finding a U-joint for my pto drive on an old manure spreader. It measures 2.875 wide from end of cap to end of cap and .875 cap diameter. Outside locks. I cannot find a listing by size anywhere. The caps also have a small knurl on them. Another starange thing, this joint has no needle bearings. Never seen that before ? The joint was not dry and the needles did not fall out ?

Seen them before, unfortunately don't
know #. I went to a truck (semi) parts dept, find one that deals in drive train parts, if they're any good (parts person). it's in their book. I'll try to find my old book.

I've seen u-joints like that, Grandad had a pto crosscut saw that had joints like that and it seems like the old Case chopper had them. I don't know where to find them.

If you have a dealer that has been in business 50+ years you might check with them.

I will see if I can find one in my shop this afternoon. But my 1973 1210 IHC pickup had u-joints that fit a lot of my older equipment. Post-hole digger. spreader, etc.

Lots of old u-joints have plain bearings. There are still some speciality high-load low speed joints like that. Lets you have a bigger cross. Is the knurling something someone added to peen up the cups so they don't get spit out of the worn out ears?

You might try TISCO parts. I had trouble finding a set of u-joints for my brush hog. No luck with the normal automotive styles. My local auto parts house also stocks TISCO tractor parts. TISCO had what I needed. I am not sure if you can find a catalog for them on line or not.
