Shredder Gearbox

Can someone help me identify this gearbox? I think the nameplate was from a mowal shredder but it is long gone. The deck is in good condition and want to repair/replace the gearbox. The input shaft was damaged due to a wrong shear bolt. Thank you for your help.

This is just my opinion, but, I have always found the parts for the gearbox of a mower to be more expensive than the rest of the mower. If it is sentimental, or has some deep family attachment, I would understand fixing it, but honestly, I think your best bet is to fit another gearbox from a rusted out cheap mower. That, or have a machine shop custom build a new pinion. That would be cheaper than what the part would cost. I've seen them in the $4-600 range for just the pinion shaft.

There is an outfit in Mt. Orab, Ohio that sells gearboxes and such for mowers. They have pretty good prices. I can't think of the companies name right now.

DN Equipment? I forgot about them. They do have whole gearboxes in the $150 price range.

Looks like the whole end of the pinion is missing, though... might just be the way I am looking at it.

Let me know the sizes of the shafts and whether they are smooth or splined and how many splines. I may have 1 to fit it. My email's open Keith

I might just go ahead and get a gearbox from an old shredder. Saw one in the Houston CL today. I really liked this gearbox because it was robust, no sentimental value to it. I just need it to get the work done. I hate to get rid of something when all it needs is just a small part to get it working, but we cannot keep everything. Especially when the replacement part costs more than the item that needs repair. Thanks for your opinions.
