It is TOO HOT here!!

I have 47 degrees here with fog and rain. I would rather have cold and snow over this. I know we will have some sick cattle this week. Plus twice as much bedding.

The warm weather is nice for the heating bills but this is too warm. 30s for the highs and teens for the lows works about prefect for this time of year. With some sun shine that is.

Here in South Central Illinois just East of St. Louis Mo we had a high of 51 yesterday starting out at 45 and very foggy. It's 47 now this morning again, with rain. I'm hoping to work on the zero turn today and get it ready for next spring.

This lovely warm foggy weather here in Iowa is the perfect setting for shipping fever in cattle. I had a nightmare situation with some high dollar feeder pigs with pneumonia in an over crowded hog building during a warm foggy December back in the 90's that I will never forget. Every time it's warm and foggy in winter the memory comes back.

Keeping the animals stress free is the best preventative. Cattle don't do well in the winter when it's warm and wet. Hogs are a lot the same but not quite as succeptable. A fancy confinement with proper ventilation helps but it's still not perfect.

I agree, think it was in the 20's this time last year. To hot for carhartts. Our roads are breaking up already. Quite a bit of oil activity. 100 miles east of you.

Agreed. Had more stone dumped on my driveway and it is starting to sink again, already. Barely freezes up for a few days, then thaws and rain. Perfect weather to have freeze/thaw ruin a lot. That is not to mention the ruts from hauling out round bales right now. That's a whole different discussion.

If the air was dryer the warm temperatures would be a lot better. The mud on top of the frozen ground could dry some and the dampness wouldn't bother the livestock. We've had above freezing temperatures, clouds and fog for the last week. A few snowmobilers are even falling through the ice again. Now the temperature have finally dropped to 23F and the rain has turned to snow on top of ice. Tuesday will be colder and sunny but very slick, it could be a busy but unproductive day here in Central MN.
