Well I was back helping my neighbor a the farm he bought and we found a longer small wooden crate with the word detonite my question is what is detonite
 
I don't really know. I googled detonite and most of the information referred to Star Wars.

It does sound like it is related to explosives.
 
Maybe a proprietary name for dynamite? My dad and his brother used to buy dynamite at the hardware store. Just like you were buying 16 penny nails or something. This was in the 1950s and early 60s.

I can't imagine anything named "dentonite" would be a good thing. Too close to "detonate", and that doesn't sound good.
