Tire question

Load range for tires is designated by a letter. Higher the letter, the greater the load capacity.
Lt tires will be load range D or E.
Load range letter and capacity is molded in the sidewall.

Watch out for nitto though. Their oversize load range e tires are actually a d rated tire. They don't hold up so well due to being less of a tire. A true lr e tire will be rated at 80 psi.

The load rating on the tire is calculated, but there are variables that can effect the actual load capacity. Speed is one of the variables, as well as the wheel that the tire is mounted on.

Load range is indicated by letters. Each letter represents 2 plies.

B rating = 4ply
C rating = 6ply
D rating = 8ply and so on.

But Z rating is high speed of 150 mph. Not sure why the letter rating changes for speed. Most other tires will be pulled apart from centrifugal force at 150 mph.

There a several e rated tires that are actually d rating and no they are not that great . D is fine till they start getting a little low on tread then it seems like they pick up everything they can find causing flats
