I am looking at buying a 1974 jd450c with HLR. It starts and runs fine but won't move. Has been setting for several years out in the open in central Texas. Trans is full and fluid looks good. was fine when parked.Have tried moveing with bucket and sprockets turn. Engine rpm does seem to drop when put in high or low but ever so slightly. any suggestions?? :?

My suggestion is RUN, RUN, RUN. Either that or get a BIG checkbook. Known to have FNR problems. Mega bucks to fix.

I'm very Green at this . What is FNR. If that is the case what is it worth as crap iron. I'm really interested in the attachments that go with it. Back hoe and ripper.

jdcrawlers.com

Lots of experienced guys that just mess with dozers they have
forums there as well lots of tips for when buying and simple fixes. I
Used the site to buy both my crawlers. I had a 420c and upgraded
to a straight 350. Dozers are great to own but can get expensive.
Check it out first. If price is right parts could mak eyou some money
if the tranny is junk...

I have a 450C track loader. It sounds like the transmission seals are leaking. About a 20 shop hour job. Biggest cost was labor now I have a nice machine but is always shedded and runs about 2o hours a year

HL-R can cost a small fortune to fix if worn out.
I'm not saying that's the problem with this one. I
AM saying that 450Cs have gotten old enough that
if an HL-R is trashed - they sometimes are not
cost-effective to fix.
