removing an Ariens model 10995 snowblower carb.

I bought 3 at an auction for $15 each. I got one to start and it will run if I continue to spray gas into the carburetor. I thought the governor was stuck, but when I disconnected the linkage, the governor moved easily. The throttle is stuck in the carb. When I tried to remove the two 7/16th nuts, that hold the carb. on, the studs turned with the nuts. The studs are not turning out of the engine. And I turned them enough that they should have been out. How can I get them off, without splitting the nuts?
thank you

I would tighten them back down and see if the threads are stripped. If they are, you will have to put a screwdriver behind the base and keep pressure on the carb and unscrew the studs with the nuts and then put HeliCoils back in. That is what I would do if the machine is worth saving.

I used a screw driver to put pressure on the nut and I could tell that it was harder to turn, but the studs kept turning with the nuts, and they did not turn out either.

I assume it has the Tecumseh 6 or 7 horse Snow King engine on it. The carb is bolted to an adapter and not the engine block. Those are bolts, not studs. So - two bolts and nuts hold the carb to that adapter, and then two bolts hold the adapter to the engine block. The two bolts holding the carb to the adapter are 1/4" with 7/17" nuts on one side, and Philips-head on the other with conical shaped lockwashers to help prevent them from turning.

The part I marked with the letter "A" is the adapter the carb is bolted to. NO studs. Just two bolts and nuts. The heads of those bolts are countersunk and you cannot get a wrench on them without removing the adpater and carb together from the engine block.

Just went through that exercize this week. Get a flashlight and look beyond the 7/16 nuts, you will see a phillips head screw, one on each side of the carb, one is above the nut and to the rear of it , and one is below and to the rear of the other nut. take a long phillips screwdriver and take out those screws and the carb will come off. It took me an hour to get the carb off, I did get the nuts off, by holding pressure on the carb with a screwdriver, but when I got it off , I found out about the other phillips head screws. Good luck and have fun.

Thank you everyone. I will try to get this machine up off the ground so that I can get a better look at it. It really helps to know what to look for.
Thanks again

I did get a different snow blower to run tonight. After I loosen the gas cap, it would keep running for more than just 3 minutes.
