OT-auto fuel

Posted the same deal on the JD site. Us guys in Canada are being pharkled on the cost of gas. Last week it was approx. $.76 per liter in the U.S., while it is $1.21 per liter here. Sphincter closing !!! Worst part is WE gots a LOT of oil and get NO break. Just sayin'.

That price here in the U.S. is only until they blow something else up in the middle East.

OPEC has been keeping production steady even though demand is down. They don't like that we are on track to be the world's largest oil exporter within the next 10 years or so.

1.21 Loonies = 1.06 greenbacks. So your petrol is really about 40 percent more than ours. Meanwhile the highways and bridges in the US are falling apart because there's no money to fix them.

States and Fed have collected more than enough $$$
to fix all the roads but they spent it on things like High Speed rail, bike lanes and about anything else you can think of.

I pd $2.999 for diesel in Olahoma City OK yesterday. It's like
getting a raise when you buy 180 gallons at a time. Major
truck stops are as high as 3.5 in Kansas City MO.

There would be money there for that if they would put it there instead of redesigning and replacing roads and bridges that would be good for anouther 50 years. Just that they want anouther 6" clearance under overpass bridges so the already over height trucks can get taller on our state roads but be a foot more clearance than the bridges in neighboring state. And to make it so more people will drive 50 mile to reach a supper highway to drive 50 mile on there to anouther highway and drive 50 mile on that instead of the person taking a direct route of 100 mile to their destination. It is just an ego thing with the goverment that they do not have the money to fix what is needed ans spend it on things that are not needed or wanted by the people or that even make sence.

As I understand, oil being traded on the world market, the basic price per gallon is more or less "the same" everywhere in the world. The gross cost to the consumer is due to shipping, local markup and taxes. I know in NYS 70 cents of every gallon of gas is State and Federal taxes- mostly state tax. Diesel (on road) is 75 cents a gal. So while the price in some places in the US is under $2.00 a gall, were' still over $3.10 here, over $3.25 locally.

Does anyone really think the politicians are going to willingly give up any tax money? That's their re-election funding!

One reason the infrastructure in this country is falling apart and no money is,we are spending all our money on "USELLES" wars, the highways that are built have to be redone in a short time, you know shoddy workmanship and materials. Construction companies have to hire people that are not qualified, so they can get their quota of diversity
Another reason that the price of oil is down, the powers to be are trying to break Russia and punish them for things they haven't done.

I went 12 miles south to Norwich and filled the truck for $2.999 yesterday. First time in years the price has been under $3. 1/2 mile down the road in Sherburne it $3.199. Ten miles south of Norwich in Oxford it's $3.199.

The oil in Canada is land locked. The political climate in British Columbia , along with special Interest groups have stalled the construction of a liquids pipeline to the pacific coast! The same to be said for constructing a liquids pipeline south to the USA! Last night a major financial investor on public TV announced that with the price of oil dropping they would not be constructing an LNG plant on the west cost of Canada. At present most of the Canadian liquids infrastructure is filled to capacity. Sure let the price of a Barrel of oil come down....you can be assured that CANADA and the USA will slow down on their drilling programs as world cheep oil will stifle the economy of both Canada and the USA. In western Canada the province of Alberta hit a MOON CRATER with the last Leader! Butttt she was on board with get these pipelines built as Capitalism makes work, work is money, people with money tend to be happy, and more law abiding than those with out. The leader of British Columbia is surrounded by special interest groups that seem not to under stand that the MEDICAL system, Education system, infrastructure, Policing, etc, etc. etc., has to be paid for from natural resource sales. The fallout in western Canada with cheep world crude prices if it continues, will drive investors to other countries as a return on an investment is what money lenders look for.

A lot is taxes...sometimes they put a pie chart on the pump showing the amount of tax per litre, the cost of transport, refining cost, profit to station ( which is usually the smallest slice)

Having said that, everything must be paid for is we want roads, schools, health care etc.

Do we have a perfect system in Canada, no far from it, but overall we live pretty good, have good services, healthcare, infrastructure etc.

I don't mind paying taxes, I don't like seeing them waste away on foolish projects and payoffs to friends of the party's involved ....

Every "public" transportation system ever dreamed up is subsidized by the fuel taxes. Think those people riding in the bike lanes ever paid for a foot asphalt? The public busses in every city eat of billions of dollars so people can get around cheap on the fuel taxes we pay.

(quoted from post at 12:10:19 12/05/14) I went 12 miles south to Norwich and filled the truck for $2.999 yesterday. First time in years the price has been under $3. 1/2 mile down the road in Sherburne it $3.199. Ten miles south of Norwich in Oxford it's $3.199.

I hear in Watertown there are places it's under $3.00. $3.20 something up here in Gouverneur.
