It's a first for us to have both male and female come up on the deck to eat out of the bird feeders. We was just getting ready to butcher the deer and here they come.I used to go to Kentland Ind to hunt them, that was the best area to hunt pheasant and quail in the US at that time. That sure brought back a lot of memories to see them in the driveway and deck. Thought you might enjoy looking at the picture. Up here there is no season for them,so any hunting of them is on game farms or preserves. Hopefully they will stay around here all winter and are welcome to eat from our feeders anytime. They are safe on our property than out in the wild, might have chicks in the spring.

Has been a long time since I've seen any in the wild, other than strolling the vacant lots in Detroit. Hundreds of them downtown.

Sure miss them around here. Years ago I could step out on my porch and cackle and get an answer from the local rooster. No more..... Did I mention I am seeing coyotes? Saw 3 while hunting last week. Another today while hauling gravel with tractor. 4 different critters. 'Nuff said.

Saw a cock bird a few weeks ago while I was hunting. We used to have quite a few, but not as many now that we don't fallow fields in the fall and cut our stalks after we combine. Nor do we strip farm like we used to, so they don't have the hide habitat they used to. It's still nice to see one occasionally.
