What do you call....

...those upright, approximately 4' high, cement and steel posts that you see EVERYWHERE but really never notice, used to keep equipment from hitting things? They must have a name. I have seen them on either side of barn doors to keep equipment from hitting the building if you are off a hair driving in.

when I was in construction, we would also call them "bumper posts", We use 8' 6" steel pipe, then fill them with concrete.

Yeah...thinking of making my own. I can scare up the pipe if I keep my eyes open and the darn things aren't cheap. I would like to have something up before I roll the combine into the wall. Bound to happen.

Yep they are called bollards. They seem to naturally attract things such as forklifts and other mobile equipment especially if you paint them bright yellow. The running joke at work is if you want something smashed paint it yellow so it is an easy target to see.
