towed in the first fatality for the winter. young gal lost control on the ice and flipped her s.u.v. no seat belt and was ejected from vehicle. killed on impact. such a waste. seat belt would have saved her. makes you sad and angry at the same time. prayers to her family. hope you all be safe out there.

You must be in Kentucky, that lady is from right here in Greene NY my hometown . I read about it on facebook this morning, very sad.

Glennster, we got called out to a roll over 2 weekends ago, single vehicle, driver & 2 passengers, driver and front seat passenger ejected (no seatbelts), both transported to hospital and treated (unsure of injuries - at least broken bones on the one - alcohol and speed were factors according to the cops), the second passenger, belted into the rear seat was killed when the car rolled - dead before we got there to cut the car open to get her out... what are the chances of that.

It's not the best part of being a volunteer firefighter... much the same for you on the tow truck...

tragic how many are killed due to not wearing seatbelts, here in Western ND, we lose 3 or 4 a week because of that since the oil boom took off. My boys when they were young always told me "Dad buckle up" whenever we got in a vehicle, as they had always been secured since they were born. I use mine 99 % of the time now, except driving the mile from one farm to the other or some such.

I'm and believer in seat belts anymore I guess. They seem to do more good than harm. My daughter rolled her car two years ago whizzing down the highway while TEXTING. Drifted off the side and got caught in the soft shoulder and it sucked her in. She panicked and jerked the wheel and stood on the brakes. Over it went. The guy behind her said it went over twice. When I got there it was already on the wrecker. There wasn't one piece of glass in it or one straight panel and the front suspension pretty much tore out. The roof looked like it was a chop top. She came out of it with a sprained thumb where the air bag clipped her on the way out of the column. She was driving an 870 Volvo we gave her for graduation. We were lucky that day.
