Head Gasket Needed - B427 Continental

You have way too many numbers. The gasket number is a 1761 but it has been obsolete for at least 10 years. Montie is going to be your best bet.

I emailed them. They answered the next day with a price. I called and it was on the way that same day. Full gasket set.

Three sparks plugs broke off in the head. So I pulled the head, cleaned up the carbon and cut the broken plugs out on the milling machine. I chased the threads in the rest of the cylinders as long as it was off.

I am excited to try and fire up the engine next week. It has been sitting in a shed for over twenty years. It was pulled from a Fox stock chopper when the clutch went bad. That carb is sure big!

With the deck and head cleaned up, I put the new gasket on and torqued the head down. I put in new spark plugs! :)
With the original 30+ year old wires and points it started right up. After a little tuning (timing and carb) it idled right down and purred like a kitten full of warm milk. Very smooth for a big cube motor. I am excited to shoehorn this into the 55.

Now to track down ignition tune-up components.
