I gave this farmer a very old trowling machine, that was going to the scrapyard,I asked the boss if I could have it,he laughed at me ,as he did everytime I Asked him for (stuff) and said sure you can have it,,add it to your collection! It took it to a farmer in PA ,i knew he could fix it and use it in the future. Idrove by this farmers old barn today,he and 2 other neighbors were pouring a slab, They were glad to see me,the concrete was setting up fast. They had let some of it get too hard too bull float it.He said ,,I Have the machine you gave me,I Fixed it,,,well,,,it worked like a dream!

Does he farm for a living? Just wondered what type of operation. Looks like a neat old barn where he poured the slab.

Always enjoy your posts.

I admire guys with that kind of skill. My BIL can fix a lot of stuff too, but I don't know about machines like that.

What brand of Lathe is that?
I sure would like to run a horizontal milling machine.......never had one before.

they farm 5 or 6 farm in the area, hay, soybeans ,corn,,,he planted the sunflowers on the hill I have shown a few times in the past, just for scenaery, and he bagged some up and sold them

he moved the shop building from across the street, made a low trailer frame from an old truck, put a hydrolic cylinder on the front end so he could steer it with his tractor while towing it,,to get it out of tight spots.

Push the shutter button half way down, wait for a light , or not, and then push it all the way down, Your auto focus is not working right.

The lathe looks similar to a Leblond. I use to make piston rods on one newer than that one. I also ran a 5 3/8 boring mill for a couple of years. There is a lot of money sitting on the floor under the lathe. I would love to have a shop like that

He reminds me of a fellow that used to have a shop near me when I was growing up ole Pete could fix or make anything a real asset to everyone around. And the concrete looks like a hot load or tell the concrete company to leave the accelerator out next time.

He reminds me of a friend that past this spring, Mr. Richard Young. He could fix anything. He and has boys rebuilt big engines in ships, Locomotives construction car truck, Well you name it they worked on it. He worked for one of the BTO's and knew IH equipment inside and out it the point IH would call he for a fix or re-engineer on something. You would have been hard pressed to find anyone who could weld better than he could. Build anything fix anything he could do it all. He would take the time to answer any question you could ask and tell you how to fix it or he would say let me get this done and I'll be right up to look at it and see how to fix it. These kind of guys are hard to come by and loosing one hits hard when they are gone. I always called him Mr. Young and he would always say just call Richard or Dick, You don't have to call me Sir or Mister. I would always say but you have earned that right Mr. Young and he would just laugh every time. I have a lot of respect for him and his family and he is truly missed. Bandit
