That's right folks, my "new" truck passed a quarter
million miles today. I was wondering how much longer
I can keep calling it new?

As long as it continues to serve like it has, it's still new.

What's the other "fuel" gauge? Urea?

You said something recently which fascinated me- that you could tell when someone was close behind, by your boost gauge. So- if someone is "drafting" you, they aren't just taking advantage of air movement somehow, they're actually sucking your power, by messing up the air flow behind your trailer?

I don't know why it does it, what the physics is, but it does pull harder. When trucks pull in close, especially when pulling a hill I will noticeably slow down. For cars I just notice a rise in boost pressure.

I had an 89 f-250 diesel that I traded at 351k, all I ever did to it was replace starter, and rebuild transfer case. that was in 2003, and I still see the old devil running around the area.

Back when I started working on trucks for a living ("77), that was miles when they started on the first rebuild!! Now, 37 years later, we have "07 year KWs with C13 Cats that have 1,000,000 miles and maybe had rods/main bearings R&R!! Hope they're all accident free for you, Jon!!

I run 98 Peterbilt with 1.8 million miles on it. Has a 3406E Cat and has been rebuilt once at about 1.2 million. Wouldn't trade it for a brand new truck even up. I've got 46 years and over 4 million miles so when the truck quits, so do I.
